West Sumbawa. Tambangnews.com.-  PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) on Monday (2/8) referred the dispute with the unions regarding claims for additional overtime payments to Manpower Office and Industrial Relations Court to achieve a fair, unbiased and final resolution.

“We believe this is the most responsible approach to resolving this issue by allowing for a final legal and binding decision that all parties can abide by,” said Darren Hall, General Manager of Operations of PTNNT.

With the referral of this dispute to Manpower Office as required under the Manpower Law, PTNNT again urged the unions to suspend their unnecessary strike and allow the courts to fairly resolve this issue.

“As always, we are committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations. PTNNT will abide, in good faith, by all final and binding legal decisions, including those which may apply to overtime payments,” said Darren Hall, General Manager of Operations of PTNNT. “We urge the unions to join us in doing the same.”

PTNNT has operated the Batu Hijau copper and gold mine in West Sumbawa, Indonesia since 2000, employing approximately 7000 employees and contractors, more than 60% of whom are recruited locally from the West Nusa Tenggara province with the vast majority from West Sumbawa district. *****
